Renewable Heat

An effective and energy efficient way to generate heating or cooling for a property

What is Renewable Heat?

Renewable heat technologies are an effective and energy efficient way to generate heating or cooling for a property, while helping to reduce carbon emissions and energy bills.

These technologies include solar thermal, ground source heat pumps, air source heat pumps and water source heat pumps.

Combined heat and power (CHP) units can also be used that simultaneously generate electricity and heat.

on fuel bills and carbon emissions

Heat pumps

Heat pumps are an effective solution for both domestic and commercial properties, with a range of system sizes available to suit different requirements.

Heat pumps extract heat from a source such as the ground, ambient air or water. This heat can then be used to heat water, homes and commercial premises. Used in reverse the system can also provide cooling, making heat pumps an ideal system for use in all seasons.

The heat that heat pumps extract from the ground, air, or water is constantly being renewed naturally and therefore they provide a highly efficient solution. Compared to conventional heating systems, heat pumps can provide savings of up to 30% on fuel bills and carbon emissions.

Incentive schemes

Since the introduction of Government’s incentive schemes, such as the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), the installation of renewable technologies that provide heating and hot water has become financially more rewarding.
