Helping people out of fuel poverty
The ECO3 scheme is a legal directive placed upon all major energy companies requiring them to fund energy efficiency improvements in eligible households with the aim of lifting eligible households out of fuel poverty, whilst reducing the UK’s carbon emissions.
ECO3 is the latest scheme and was introduced in 2018 and is set to run until March 2022, at an estimated cost of £640 million per annum.
Anesco is extremely proud to be part of a scheme that has benefitted around 1.9 million homes in the UK, taking vulnerable and low-income households out of fuel poverty.
The qualifying criteria for support under the scheme has been updated under the Affordable Warmth Scheme (Link) and there is also scope for properties that were ineligible to access grants under ECO3’s LA Flex (Local Authority Flexibility Eligibility).
Having delivered an impressive 850 million lifetime savings to date Anesco has a proven and strong track record and we currently have over £100M of funding available, a figure that continues to grow.
Beyond the immediate benefit to UK households, the ECO3 scheme supports the economy, requiring a myriad of businesses and skilled people to deliver it. The scheme further boosts the economy for industries such as manufacturing with demands for energy efficient measures that include loft insulation, cavity wall insulation and replacement boilers.
Anesco has raised over 350,000 people out of fuel poverty
To date Anesco has lifted over 350,000 people out of fuel poverty under the ECO scheme. The scheme has no cost to government, instead the government places an obligation on energy companies to make UK homes energy efficient in line with wider government policy covered in the Clean Growth Strategy. The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is now committed to the operation of the scheme until 2028.

Your ECO submission admin staff have been amazing with me over the last 6 months [managing agents going into receivership and bad payment terms]. I think I would have thrown the towel in without the support of your staff
